The Rancho Margot Hotel is a unique and remote eco-tourism project in the foothills of the Childrens Eternal Rainforest near Lake Arenal. Well-known in the area for its award-winning commitment to sustainability and self-sufficiency, Rancho Margot is home to a dairy, pig and chicken farm; organic and medicinal gardens; and an animal rescue and reintegration center. It is an ideal destination for environmentally-conscious and budget-minded guests looking for an authentic Costa Rica experience.
The accommodations and facilities at Rancho Margot are consistent with its mission and surrounding environs. They are not air-conditioned. Most of the buildings were constructed by local workers using river stones and wood salvaged from the previous ranch. Guests have the option to stay in a deluxe bungalow or a dormitory style bunkhouse. The bungalows can sleep four comfortably and have a wrap-around terrace with a hammock.
The bunkhouse dormitory has 20 small rooms with 2 bunk beds apiece, five shared bathroom and showers, and an open-air communal terrace where dormitory guests can relax and play games or music at family-style tables and benches.
Rancho Margot also provides its guests with a swimming pool of spring water lined with river rocks, a restaurant serving up organic farm-to-table meals and extensive hiking trails. Amenities include CD players, video collection, massage and yoga lessons.
