Take a Look
Hanging Bridges Arenal – Hanging Bridges Monteverde
You can’t come to Costa Rica and not feel the need to embrace nature in whichever way possible. From the moment you arrive the verdant tropical environment will wrap its arms around you and hug you like you were a long-lost friend. If there is one major difference between exploring Costa Rica and exploring, say, any of the states in America, or countries in Europe, it is that you can’t explore Costa Rica in a car or coach. This is a country to be experienced up close and personal, face-to-face, not from inside a vehicle.
Don’t just look at the Costa Rican cloud forest or rainforest, immerse yourself in it
‘Sightseeing’ is a popular phrase for vacationers, but we don’t do sightseeing in Costa Rica, we do adventures, we do experiences, we do encounters. Do you get the picture? From trekking to mountain biking, from whitewater rafting to kayaking, from ziplining to canopy tours, you can discover Costa Rica from the inside looking out, not from the outside looking in. That is why the hanging bridges in Arenal and hanging bridges in Monteverde are such an important part of any visit, and these are some of the best hanging bridges in costa Rica
What are hanging bridges?
There is something a little unsettling about the phrase ‘hanging bridges’ as for many of you, first thoughts may turn to wondering if these are bridges where people were hanged, centuries ago, for a variety of misdemeanors. Rest assured nothing could be further from that. Think more ‘suspended’ than ‘hanging’ and the picture will become clearer. Now raise those bridges 60 feet in the air, running them through the cloud or rainforest treetops, and the picture is complete.
The view’s not great from the jungle floor!
If you have ever been on a trek through the rainforest and jungle in Costa Rica, while you get the chance to see toucans and white-faced monkeys, macaws and three-toed sloths in their natural environment, the one thing you don’t get to see is the view! Take a trek through the rainforest in Arenal and Monteverde and you can enjoy the best of both worlds, as from high up you will get a far greater sense of the magnificence of this tropical paradise while traversing one of the many hanging bridges nestled in the cloud forest treetops.
Monteverde Sky Tram vs. Arenal Sky Walk
Both located in the north of Costa Rica, Monteverde and Arenal are two of the most popular locations for adventure-based vacations, owing predominantly to the presence of volcanoes and their surrounding habitat, home to an exceptional variety of plants, trees, mammals, birds and reptiles, not forgetting insects, which include over 300 individual species of butterfly. That is why many of the activities included in our Costa Rica Rios 8-day Adventure Tour are found here, including the Sky Tram and Sky Walk.
With the Sky Tram, you can sit back and relax as you are transported in a cable car through the cloudy treetops of Monteverde, or rainforest of Arenal, with each trip leaving long lasting memories.Guides on board your tram will gladly share their extensive knowledge of the flora and fauna of these two regions, enriching the whole breathtaking experience.
The Sky Walk is a ‘trek with a difference’. Instead of sticking to paths and trails, canyons are traversed with hanging bridges, which allow you to walk through the treetops and discover a whole new world, particularly as over 90% of all forest and jungle life lives in the canopy of the rain forest in Arenal, and cloud forest in Monteverde.
Make sure you include hanging bridges in your Costa Rica adventure vacation
With tropical rainforest covering so much of Costa Rica, and with numerous national parks, hanging bridges can be found across the whole of the country, including the Selvatura hanging bridges and Guanacaste hanging bridges.
