Arrival day!
Your guide will be waiting outside the arrivals terminal with a sign with your names on it. After leaving the airport, you`ll begin the journey to our headquarters in Turrialba, about a two hour drive through orchards, small towns and beautiful coffee fields. You will stay in a lovely eco-friendly boutique hotel with swimming pool, jacuzzi and volcano views.
Day 1
Canyoneering
This is a fun day canyoneering tour in a private reserve right in the heart of the rainforest. You will have a local Costa Rica Rios guide lead you along the trails before getting to the canyons. From there it is a fun rock scrambling, waterfall rappelling day in a “leave no trace” environment. At each waterfall the guides will prepare the ropes as there are no permanent fixtures. You will enjoy a delicious typical lunch, cooked up by an older lady over a wood stove, with spectacular views down to the Turrialba valley. You will also have the chance to see all sorts of wildlife.
Day 2
Rafting, Ziplines & Tarzan Swing
Welcome to the jungle! It’s time to enjoy 8 miles of exciting whitewater on the one and only Pacuare River, and participate in river side stops to hike up to secluded waterfalls. After some great hikes and wonderful rapids, you will arrive at the remote Pacuare Eco-Lodge. After settling in at the lodge, it’s time to take a short walk to the canopy/zipline course. Fly through the treetop canopy and get a different perspective of the river, rainforest and its environs. For the brave there is also the amazing (and almost, heart-stopping) Tarzan Swing.
Day 3
Rafting – Part II
After a hearty breakfast surrounded by tropical birds it’s time to get serious about whitewater fun. Your rafting trip continues down the most challenging section of the Pacuare as class IV drops seem to be around every corner. The spectacular river canyon and virgin rainforest create vertical walls of green, broken by waterfalls and hanging vines. This stretch of the Lower Pacuare River has been voted one of the top 5 commercially rafted rivers in the world by National Geographic and will have you floating past primary rainforest, stunning waterfalls, steep canyons and fun class III and IV rapids. You will enjoy a sumptuous river picnic along the way before reaching the “take out” point in the Caribbean lowlands. From there, your private shuttle will take you to the town of Puerto Viejo, where you will check into your hotel, Namuwoki.
Day 4
Snorkel and Sloths
In the morning head to Cahuita National Park for a snorkeling tour by boat. This is a marine and land reserve and is a wonderful opportunity to snorkel a protected reef and see sloths, monkeys and other wildlife up close. Afterwards enjoy a visit to a sloth sanctuary to see the rehabilitation program at work and to learn about these unique creatures.
Day 5
Beach Time
Our suggestion would be to head to the beach and enjoy your days playing in the Caribbean Sea. If you’re feeling a little more energetic why not rent some beach bikes (very inexpensive), and cruise up the coastline looking for your own little piece of paradise. There are tons of little nooks and crannies up and down the coast in this part of Costa Rica and you can ride for miles from one cove to the next discovering all the different beaches.
Days 6 & 7
Time To Head Home
Take a short internal flight to San Jose in time to catch your international flights home.
