Week of Rivers Canoe February 25 – March 6, 2012
Though this week has a bit up and down with the weather – some days rain all day and some days spectacularly sunny – the enthusiasm of our guides and paddlers never wavered! Stef, our guide from Canada, was thrilled to be openboating again as this is how she first started whitewater paddling. Though kayaking has been her main hobby in recent months she was happy to have other openboaters’ excitement to renew her love of canoeing. Danny, another of our guides, was challenged into paddling an openboat down a few rapids and conceded that it’s much harder than it looks! He was great at paddling on his strong side and had slightly more trouble when doing a cross bow stroke. He’s decided this is a great new challenge for him to take on so maybe we’ll see him guiding in an openboat on next year’s Week of Rivers Canoe! During the second half of the week our guest headed out to the Jungle Camp and LOVED it! We think they might have stayed there the entire rest of the week had there not been other exciting paddling days on other beautiful rivers to lure them out of the Jungle.
