 Welcome to Costa Rica

Welcome to Costa Rica

Your guide will be waiting outside the arrivals terminal with a sign with your names on it. After leaving the airport, you begin the journey to the town of La Fortuna at the base of the Arenal Volcano. Having dominated the skyline for many years the volcano is still an impressive site. Resting on the hills and slopes of the valley and tucked within the lush landscape, you will find your hotel, Los Lagos. This is a beautiful property to relax in and enjoy breathtaking views. The property boasts extensive gardens, a spa and its own hot springs.

Day 1

 Whitewater Rafting

Whitewater Rafting

The Rio Balsa is the perfect rafting tour for families with children, all nature lovers, outdoor enthusiasts, and people who are simply looking for a fun rafting adventure in Costa Rica. Your guide will provide paddling and safety instructions to prepare you for your adventure. Then it is time to challenge yourself as you paddle down over 10 kilometers of continuous, exciting rapids with names like “Congo Loco” and “Rock around the Croc!” As you descend down this beautiful class 2-3 river, you’ll have a chance to admire the lush greenery, vines, and different types of insects, birds and animals — your eagle-eyed guides will even point out the monkeys, sloths and toucans along the way. About half way down the river your guides will provide you a smorgasbord of fresh tropical fruit as you relax with the rest of your group. Why not take a swim and immerse yourself in the wild nature around you. Overnight Los Lagos. Breakfast included.

Day 2

 Hanging Bridges & Ziplines

Hanging Bridges & Ziplines

Sky Trek, Sky Walk, Sky Tram – the complete combo! Discover a birds eye view of the volcano, lake and rainforest as you travel up in open air cable cars to explore the suspended bridges before speeding back down to earth along almost two miles of zip lines. Start with an in-formative and interesting walk along jungle trails and hanging bridges, with a naturalist guide, and learn all about the flora, fauna, the history and culture of the area. Afterwards ride the open gondola up through the dense rainforest to the unique volcano observation deck. From there you will have great photography opportunities with treetop views of the tropical rainforest. See the jungle from a different perspective and maybe see some different creatures that inhabit it. Return to the ground below by ziplining a series of cables across the tree canopies and canyons. This is an exhilarating fun way to see the rainforest and the beauty of the area. Overnight Los Lagos. Breakfast and lunch included.

Day 3

 Horse-Riding to La Fortuna waterfall

Horse-Riding to La Fortuna waterfall

See the spectacular Arenal Volcano off in the distance and the green countryside as you travel by horseback to see waterfalls near La Fortuna. Cool off in the rushing waters near the waterfall. Ride with an experienced Costa Rican cowboy and practice your Spanish along the way. You get great views of some of the most-beautiful waterfalls near La Fortuna and the Arenal Volcano. The horses are well-maintained and this is an easy-going, slow ride. Its a fun half day tour where you will need clothes to get wet in, long pants, water, a snack and a change of clothes. Spend the rest of the day exploring the small town of La Fortuna, add in another adventure or relax by the fresh or thermal pools of your hotel. Overnight Los Lagos. Breakfast included.

Day 4

 Time to hit the beach

Time to hit the beach

It is time to head to the beach for some sun, surf and sea. You will be driven along the scenic route through the hills heading down to sea level. As you get closer to the coast, feel the temperature rise and get ready for some hot lazy days. You’ll arrive at one of Costa Rica’s best beach destinations, where you’ll check into your hotel, Costa Verde. Just three hundred yards from the beach overlooking the world famous Manuel Antonio National Park, Costa Verde features 3 cliff-side pools with sundecks and spacious rooms, studios and bungalows. All rooms offer balconies with a bird’s-eye view of the Park’s majestic coastline or rainforest canopy vistas dotted with toucans, sloths, coatis and monkeys. Overnight Costa Verde Hotel. Breakfast included.

Day 5

Manuel Antonio National Park Guided Hike

Manuel Antonio National Park Guided Hike

In the morning you will visit the Manuel Antonio National Park. It is the best place for wildlife viewing and you are almost guaranteed to see sloths, iguanas and several species of monkeys, as well as other exotic creatures. Your naturalist guide will pick you up from your hotel and lead you along the well-kept trails to hidden beaches all the while pointing out interesting things along the way. Enjoy a dip in things along the way. Enjoy a dip in the sea and sink your toes in to the soft sand of the beautiful Pacific beaches before returning to your hotel later in the day to relax by the pool, have a couple of sunset cocktails or explore a little of Manuel Antonio. Overnight in Costa Verde. Breakfast included.

Day 6

 Surfing Lessons

Surfing Lessons

In the morning you will hit the beach for a private surf lesson with an instructor at the Surf School. Costa Rica is known worldwide for its beautiful beaches perfect for surfing and it is a fun sport to learn. Lessons with a local surf school will make sure that you learn the basics of surfing in a smooth and safe way. The surf lessons are given according to the tides and in an introductory surf lesson you will learn the basics of surfing such as standing, paddling, turning and tides as well as ocean awareness and surf ethics. Overnight in Costa Verde. Breakfast included.
